Estrellita Karsh 2016 Honoree
We honor and thank Estrellita Karsh for years of commitment to and generous support of Women’s Lunch Place, and her compassion for the women we serve. Estrellita’s years of studying the history of art and medicine, and marriage to Yousuf Karsh, a renowned portrait photographer of the 20th century, led to her collaborations with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, including engaging medical residents in learning the art of healing and empathy in the MFA galleries. Estrellita’s passion for art and healing will soon grace the walls of the dining room of Women’s Lunch Place. She has commissioned accomplished artist and SMFA faculty member Nan Freeman to create paintings of birth flowers in exotic vases, one for each month of the year. Estrellita envisions that, “every guest can experience her own personal birthday on her journey of renewal.” The guests of Women's Lunch Place thank Estrellita for bringing beauty and joy to their community of healing, hope, and dignity.
